The second monument of importance that crosses the ancient Olympia site is the palaestra that used to train competitors in wrestling, boxing and pankration. The building was square and was 66 m apart. The central court, open skies, was surrounded by a Doric colonnade as well as several pieces with different uses: in the konistérion, athletes covered dust and sand, in the élaiothésion, they were enduisaient oil, in the éphébéion, they received the teaching of their coaches. You distinguish at the north-east corner a deep 1,40 m deep basin that served in cold baths. The columns you see have been restated by the team of the German Archaeological Institute.
