Hill sheltering a temple dedicated to Zeus.
From anywhere in Athens, you can see this 277 m high hill. At its feet lies the whole city and in particular the Acropolis. The Lycabette, at the time, was dominated by a temple dedicated to Zeus, but today it is Aghios Georgios who crowns the mountain. Athena, wanting to be closer to the sky, would have gone to look for a big rock on Mount Pentèle to put it on the Acropolis. But as bad omens had predicted misfortune if she went ahead with her project, she decided to leave the rock in the middle of Athens..
