On the northwest side of the Temple of the Olympiad is Hadrian's Gate, an impressive 18-metre high marble arch. Hadrian's gate was built in honour of Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. It delineated the boundary between the ancient city of Theseus and the new Roman city that extended from the current Avenue Amalias to Illissos. It is a unique Romanesque arch, framed by two Corinthian columns. Above, the two statues of Theseus and Hadrian were erected on the same level.

Belle porte marquant la frontière entre la ville de Thésée et celle d'Hadrien.

Il faut y passer
A voir notamment pour faire une belle photo avec l acropole, surtout que c est gratuit et ça permet de voir une porte antique intacte

Ce site est particulièrement photogénique au coucher du soleil. Il est cependant assez difficile à photographier avec la circulation de la route qui passe juste devant.

Au bord de la route...
La porte d'Hadrien est majestueuse mais il est décevant de la trouver à côté de la route la plus fréquentée d'Athènes... Elle en vaut néanmoins le détour.

Pas mise en valeur
La Porte d'Hadrien est plutôt bien conservée et joliment décorées, mais elle n'est pas du tout mise en valeur. Elle est situé sur un bout de trottoir à côté de l'Olympeion.
