Pure Monday(kathara deftera). This festival marks the beginning of Lent. People usually go on a family picnic in the countryside and fly kites. In Athens, the parks and hills around the city are full of people and this is a great opportunity to be part of it! Choose the hill of the Muses (Philopapou) in front of the Acropolis in the neighborhood of Thissio or the botanical park of the Niarchos Foundation. If you prefer to be by the sea, head for Marathon, Nea Makri, and, of course, Cape Sounion.
