At the end of April, Easter week is the most notable religious event of the year and it is also the occasion to celebrate the arrival of spring. There are many rites: the tomb of Christ, decorated with flowers, is carried in a procession on Good Friday. Follow the procession from the church of Agia Ekaterini, in Plaka: it takes place around 9 pm and follows the small streets of Anafiotika, at the foot of the Acropolis. The Resurrection is celebrated everywhere in Greece on Saturday night at midnight. The celebration ends on Sunday, when the family gathers around a mechoui.
