HOLY SOPHIA MUSEUM (AYA SOFYA)

Built under the Commenes (1238-1263), Saint Sophia is the jewel of the city. This former Byzantine church converted into a mosque is worth a visit. The building was initially a basilica with three naves. On its south porch pediment, a sculpted frieze represents Adam and Eve. The interior of the church is decorated with magnificent frescoes from the ^13th century. In the central apse are the Virgin and the Child Jesus. The newlyweds like to have their picture taken in the park on Saturdays.
