Founded in the 4th century B.C., Limyra was the capital of Lycia at the time of Pericles, founder of the Lycian Federation. Caius Caesar, grandson and heir of Augustus, died there. During the Byzantine era, it was the seat of a bishopric, but the Arab invasions forced its inhabitants to abandon it in the 9th century. It is still one of the most beautiful cities in Turkey today, where you can see several noteworthy tombs on the top of Tocak Dağı, and a mausoleum, possibly that of Pericles. At the foot of the hill is a theater dating from 120 AD. 10 km north of Finike. Dolmuş every 15 minutes from Finike.
