When to go Barcelona ?
Barcelona can be visited all year round. Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) temperatures are very pleasant and the crowd of visitors less dense. The beginning of summer (June-July) marks the season of the major music festivals. In August, hot and humid, the inhabitants desert the city and many shops are closed. During the low season (November-March), temperatures remain mild and are ideal for exploring the city.
Protected from the winds by the Spanish Pyrenees, Barcelona enjoys a Mediterranean climate with sub-Mediterranean influences. Winters are dry. However, Barcelona's weather is subject to the risk of thunderstorms and storms from May to November and especially from August onwards. The driest months are July and February. In summer the temperature rises above 28°C (average 24°C). In winter, it remains above 4°C (average 10°C). The sea breeze reduces the summer heat.
