35 kilometers from Mout. Close to the ruins of the ancient capital of the oasis, there are the impressive mastabas of its necropolis of Qila el-Dabba, built in mud brick and dating from the 6th dynasty (2460-2200). Of particular note are the mastaba of Khentikau-Pepi, governor of the city (2246-2152), and that of Khentika, another governor of the oasis, with its exceptional wall paintings and spectacular dimensions. Their number and arrangement make for an absolutely grandiose spectacle. Don't hesitate to stop in the village that best preserves its traditional and authentic character.
