Borg el-Arab airport is a former military airport, capable of handling heavy long-haul flights. This is where all flights to Alexandria land while al-Nozha airport is being renovated. Located some 50 km from the city center, it takes at least 200 LE by cab to get there, and requires at least an hour's transport. A number of car rental agencies have set up branches here.

Egypt Air (in Egyptian: masr le-tayyarân) is the national airline of Egypt. Its headquarters are located at Cairo International Airport, its main hub. Provides scheduled passenger and cargo services to more than 75 destinations in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. Egyptair is a member of the Star Alliance and the Arab Air Carrier Organization and was founded in June 1932 as one of the world's first airlines.
