The Rasta reggae phenomenon is on the rise in Zanzibar, with an annual festival held in August.

The Zanzibar Reggae Festival is held at Stone Town's Old Fort every year, attracting many new visitors. The Rasta reggae philosophy is gaining momentum in Zanzibar, from the green-yellow-red addresses, particularly in Michamvi Kae, but also all over the island. The festival is the brainchild of Said Hamad, aka Rasta Side, who wants to combine reggae with tourism promotion on the island. A good idea with a message: Love & Unity for the humanity!
