Historic hotel located on the waterfront offering rooms with antique furniture and mosaic bathrooms.

The Tembo (Swahili for elephant) is a historic hotel on the waterfront, where the likes of Gandhi and Freddy Mercury have stayed. Strangely, it remains affordable in low season. The lobby is a small museum brimming with antiques, and the rooms are equipped with antique furniture, each one unique (prefer those upstairs). Some have a balcony overlooking one of the two swimming pools or the beach. The restaurant (Indian-style taste and service), with its feet in the sand, could be better. There's also a less expensive modern annex opposite.

Frühstück ist gut...Zimmer 106 ist sehr sehr klein und sperrig. Die Anlage ist urig eingerichtet, das hat seinen Charm. War für 3 Nächte dort und wurde von den beiden Nachtwächtern erpresst. Ich hatte eine Begleitperson die mit aufs Zimmer wollte. Die beiden Nachtwächter an der Rezeption (Abends 16.10.2023) haben mir 80.000 Schilling abgenommen damit die zweite Person mit auf das Zimmer konnte. Kreditkarte war nicht möglich, nur Bargeld. Am nächsten Tag wollte ich an der Rezeption eine Quittung, da wusste aber plötzlich niemand was. Richtiger Betrug. Ich will mein Geld zurück.

Tempo House Hotel is represented in advertisement accurately. Check in service was smooth where guests receive a warm welcome and introduction. Following the check in service, the front desk personnel continued to be helpful. Location is close to the Ocean, to the markets and to tourist attractions. Service in the rooms is very good, although slow to follow on fixing the TV which did not work well. Pools are clean and one pool overlooks the water. We recommend

Very nice hotel, nice service for picking up at the airport (and nice services overall), very well placed in Stone Town, and the breakfast is served just near the beach with a sea view !

Für unsere letzte Nacht auf der Insel hatten wir uns spontan für dieses Hotel entschieden, da unser vorheriges Hotel nicht unseren Erwartungen entsprach und unser Rückflug bereits um 2 Uhr morgens war.

Beeindruckend war, dass wir zunächst die Möglichkeit hatten, das Hotel und alle Einrichtungen inklusive Duschen frei zu nutzen. Da wir aber den letzten Tag und die lange Rückreise so entspannt wie möglich verbringen wollten, entschieden wir uns für ein Zimmer.

Der Hotelmanager, Abdul Aziz, kümmerte sich persönlich um unser Anliegen und bot uns eine Suite zu einem fairen Preis an, da dies die einzige Möglichkeit war.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und kompetent. Das Zimmer war sauber und gepflegt, was den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm machte.

Ein weiteres Highlight war der direkte Zugang zum Strand mit Liegestühlen. Alles in allem war unser Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel sehr angenehm und wir würden es jedem uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Vielen Dank an das ganze Team!
