A fortified castle built of dolomite, where you can discover the room of the knight imprisoned alive, the cloister and the vaulted hall.

The only perfectly preserved castle in the entire Baltic region, this impressive fortress was built of dolomite in 1260 as a base for the bishopric of Ösel-Wiek. The fortress walls and cannon towers were built over a century later, and the moat only in the 17th century. You can visit the room of the knight walled up alive, the cloister and the vaulted room where the bishop's monks used to meet, then climb the Pikk Hermann tower for the view.
