ST. GEORGE'S MONASTERY (ГЕОРГИ "ГЕОРГИ. МАНАСТИР")

This medieval church was occupied by the Ottomans, before one of them, Selim Bey, converted to Christianity. Since then, a monastery has been established, after serious renovation and expansion in the ^nineteenth century. Inside are beautiful icons dating from the ^eighteenth and ^nineteenth centuries, painted by artists of the Zograph school. Every year on May 6, many pilgrims come to the monastery to celebrate St. George.
