BAIRAKLI DJAMIYA MOSQUE (ДЖАМИЯ ДЖАМИЯ)

Built in the ^19th century, the Bairakli Djamiya mosque is in typical Bulgarian style. Since the 1920s, it is no longer in activity. The wall patterns are beautiful, and if you are not claustrophobic, you can climb the 54 narrow and dark steps that lead to the top of the old minaret. A splendid Muslim building, not to be missed during your visit to Samokov, which testifies to the importance of Islam in the city over the centuries.
