MEDIEVAL FORTRESS (КРЕПОСТ)

The Assenovgrad fortress (^11th century), with its impressive silhouette perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Chepelarska valley, is the city's major attraction. Climbing up to it offers breathtaking views and allows you to contemplate this iconographic construction as if it were melted into the rock. At the exit of the city in the direction of Batchkovo, a road climbs on the right; you can park in front of the fortress. A cab will take you there easily.
