PRESVETA BOGORODITSA CHURCH

This beautiful church dedicated to the Holy Virgin (in Bulgarian: Храм "Успение на Пресвета Богородица") was partly destroyed by fire during the events of April 1876. There are beautiful frescoes, most of which date from the late ^nineteenth century.

The memorial of the April revolt (in Bulgarian: Паметник "Априлци") which is located right next to it pays tribute to those who resisted the Ottoman Empire and died for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria.
