SLAVEIKOVO CHKOLO, OLD SCHOOL

The courtyard of this school built in 1836-1839 has become a museum. Entirely made of wood and stone, it is very pleasant. In 1849 the school invited Petko Slaveikov as a teacher who laid the foundations of Bulgarian lay education by introducing music, painting and physical education classes. A permanent collection consists of works of the contemporary painter and sculptor Dimitar Kazakof, old watches and school supplies from the 19th century.
