SOKOLSKI MONASTERY (МАНАСТИР СОКОЛСКИ)

Built in 1834, this monastery quickly became an important center of Bulgarian culture and of the struggle against the Ottoman Empire, becoming particularly famous during the events of 1876. We visit the church which is distinguished by its exterior paintings. It houses beautiful frescoes that it would be a shame not to discover. This monastery located 3 km from the ethnic village of Etara, lost in the nature, distils an atmosphere of calm and serenity.
