Discovering this waterfall is one of Sofia's most popular summer excursions.
This is one of Sofia's most popular summer excursions. It's a bit of a challenge, though, as you'll have to climb almost 500 m in altitude on a 5 km loop from the Boyana church along a signposted footpath to the beautiful Boyana waterfall. Allow just under 3 hrs of leisurely walking in total, and bring good hiking boots, as you may come across a few muddy spots and even small streams. The discovery of the cascade, an 18 m waterfall, will amply reward your efforts!
