400 km from Algiers, the true desert gate founded by the Hilaliens in the 780 th century, Laghouat is an oasis protected by Jebel Tzigarine (m) which is an extension of Jebel Love to the west or the Oouled Naïl Mountains to the east. The town of the gardens was described by the painter-writer Eugene Fromentin. From this trip, he will produce two books and paintings where the sun and the shadow blend. Laghouat kept the memory of this lover by giving his name to one of the rocks on which he probably liked to meditate, looking for points of view.
