Every year, on the 27 th day of the month of Ramadan, followers of the Aissawa religious Brotherhoods in the eastern part of the country hold their great Hadra, «gathering», in Constantine. On the first day, once the night fell, the members of the brotherhoods travelled part of the city in procession, in the sound of their songs (medh). The ceremony takes place in honour of the city's patron saint Sidi Rached, whose mausoleum lies on a rock below the bridge of the same name.
