TOMB OF SIDI BOU ISHAQ EL-TAYYAR

Abu Ishaq and Tayyar or "the flying man" was a very great saint, renowned for his feat of having spent twenty-four years without sleeping in order to pray. Built under the Merinids, all that remains of what is supposed to have been the tomb of this marabout who died around 1300 are the ruins, which nevertheless allow us to imagine the grace of the original monument which stood near a spring. These enigmatic ruins occupy a mound at the end of a small road crossing many old cemeteries.
