MURDJADJO PLATEAU

Culminating at 430 m of altitude, the mountain of Aïdour, otherwise named "Murdjadjo", dominates Oran. The plateau can only be reached by the route des Planteurs. It is on these heights that one of the most emblematic buildings of the city is located: the chapel of Santa Cruz, but also its fort and the koubba of Sidi Abdelkader, erected for the first time in 1425, in homage to Sidi Abd al kader El Djilani, a holy protector, originally from Baghdad, who diffused Sufism in the Islamic world. The koubba was destroyed several times and then rebuilt.
