Created in 1966, this cemetery contains the graves of French soldiers who died in the war and a plot for American soldiers.
This cemetery is often called "the American cemetery" because it has a square reserved for American soldiers who died following the D-Day landings in 1942, as well as an inscription "American cemetery".
In reality, it is mainly a French cemetery. It was created on March 9, 1966, mainly to regroup the graves of French soldiers during the war and which were scattered throughout the country. Many French officials come to visit it during important celebrations.
