SOUTHERN GATE

The gate of the Great South is one of the 14 gates that protected the city in the 18th century. While little remains of the old fortifications, the gate itself is rather well preserved, with its red painted colonnades, artillery pieces and traditional roofs. The building can be visited in only ten minutes, but it is possible to take a walk in the pleasant garden surrounding it. It is also home to the Taiwan Film Center, which screens Taiwanese and international films.
