Given to the people of Tainan by the Qing dynasty in 1875, this mausoleum is heavy with meaning since it makes the rebel warrior no longer a supporter of the Ming but a national hero: the one who liberated Taiwan from the Dutch. In the main courtyard stands a statue of Koxinga surrounded by two of his most loyal generals, while in the counter-alleys 114 other statues represent his loyalist officers. Within the mausoleum, a museum recounts the life of the liberator.
