FESTIVAL DE NANKUNSHEN

Nankunshen Temple is one of the most popular places in southern Taiwan for the religious festivals that mark the season. Shamans and worshippers in a trance present themselves in front of the imposing building, lost in the middle of the countryside. The Kunshen Wangye's Salt festival, held in November, is the most spectacular and popular of all, and brings together the faithful from the villages along the coast, where the exploitation of sea salt is a lucrative activity. This festival takes visitors back to the time when salt was the sacred spice of southwestern Taiwan.
