Erected in 1822 thanks to funds brought by hakka immigrants, it is oriented according to the principles of feng shui and dedicated to Ting Kuang, the Buddhist patron saint of the city of Tingchou, in Fujian. It is the only temple related to the Hakka culture that remains perfectly preserved in Taiwan. A major historical legacy for this community originating from China and often persecuted through the ages. Its architecture follows the traditional codes of Canton and the most famous element is undoubtedly "the toad basin", in the shape of a half-moon.
