BAN RAK THAI

Mae Aw, more commonly known as Ban Rak Thai, is a charming little village located 40 km north of Mae Hong Son, near the Burmese border. It was founded by soldiers from the Yunnan province in China. All around the lake are restaurants, cafes and small shops... The specialty of the place is the production of tea. The village looks like a tourist postcard, with a large resort facing the lake. It is nevertheless a pleasant escape and the road leading to it is superb.
