Rio Grande is the second largest Argentine city in the Tierra del Fuego province. The city was founded in 1893 with the establishment of the Salesian Mission, and then it expanded, welcoming cattle breeders in the 1920s. Today it is a reference point for fish waters: a trout sculpture located at the entrance to the town is there to remind you that fly fishing is no joke here! Sleeping here is not in itself of interest to the traveller, but the region conceals some good surprises, especially for sport fishing and estancia tourism, not to mention bird watching: with a constant flow of migratory species, don't forget your binoculars!
