PLAZA DE LA INTENDENCIA

Unlike the Plaza San Martín, which marks the entrance to the historic centre, the Plaza de la Intendencia houses the city's power organs, including the Palace of Justice. The Civic Centre is a much quieter and more airy area. The square is almost perfectly round and harmoniously proportioned. In the middle stands a pool, the only fresh touch since the square is not yet shaded; the newly planted trees are eagerly awaited to grow. Less interesting, but practical, its basement houses a very large car park.
