Gothic-style basilica with 80 stained-glass windows made in Bordeaux, welcoming millions of pilgrims every year
In Gothic style, the basilica is framed by two towers more than 100 m high. Inaugurated in 1932, its walls are covered with ex-voto in the purest Latin American tradition. They are plaques of thanksgiving affixed by the faithful after the granting of their vows. The 80 stained glass windows were made in Bordeaux. The crypt houses altars dedicated to the many virgins revered throughout the continent. Nearly 6 million pilgrims visit it every year.
