CHILAW FISH MARKET

A fish market as popular as the one in Negombo, which deserves to be visited early in the morning to get the full atmosphere. The building is set up on the edge of the beach where small boats dock to unload their catch of the day. The boats have left during the night to bring the ultra-fresh fish to the shore. The sale is done at the auction in a joyful tumult. More authentic than the Negombo market, the Chilaw fish market is known for its low prices and therefore attracts many locals.
