LE JARDIN DU FORT

Set in a ^17th-century Portuguese colonial house, Le Jardin du Fort is just a few steps from the beach and its lighthouse. Passed through British and Dutch hands, the house was renovated in 2008 by Unesco to open this romantic, atypical boutique hotel. The suites are warm and comfortable, with traditional furnishings. The common areas feature a collection of Sri Lankan puppets and masks. The little extra: a complimentary cold drink on arrival, a token of fine hospitality.
