TOWN HALL
Located opposite the Viharamahadevi Park (Victoria Park), the Town Hall is an imposing white building over 50 m high. The foundation stone was laid on May 24, 1924 and since 1928 it has been the meeting place of the city council. Designed by the architect S.J. Edwards, this beautiful building, which resembles the Capitol in Washington, was also designed to accommodate events requiring a large ballroom. It houses a small museum displaying street furniture from the period, and its garden is now the venue for many events.
