Independence Hall Memorial was built on the site where the official ceremony marking the handover of full powers and the end of the colonial era on the island took place on 4 February 1948. It features a statue of the country's first Prime Minister, RT. Hon Don Stephen Senanayake. The memorial is inspired by the Magul Maduwa, the royal audience hall in Kandy. It houses a museum with a collection of busts of the nation's heroes, accompanied by short biographies.

Rien d'exceptionnel ni de grandiose mais un lieu empli d'une certaine sérénité avec une architecture intérieure singulière.
