CHALUS CASTLE
The terrace of this castle located at approximately 20 minutes of Issoire offers a beautiful sight on the surroundings.
About 20 minutes from Issoire is the castle of Chalus, which you can see in the distance on its hill. As is often the case, the village was built around the castle. You will therefore have to leave your car in the village square and walk to the castle through small quiet alleys between shade and sun. The first building, still visible today, dates from the 11th century: it is the square keep. Subsequently, various extensions and ramparts were built on the northern part of the castle (not open to visitors). The tour lasts about 45 minutes and allows you to discover the southern part of the castle dating from 1290, following your guide (the owner) through 10 rooms, including the cellars. The terrace will offer you a beautiful view of the surroundings.
