CHÂTEAU DE LENDAVA
Built in the 12th century as a fortification on the hill overlooking the Lendava River, close to the contemporary border with Hungary, and listed as one of the region's most important historical monuments, it has been completely restored and rebuilt several times over the past centuries. It is first mentioned in the archives in 1192 as the property of the noble Hungarian Bánffy family, and was their property until the mid-17th century, which explains the origin of the name of the street where the castle stands.
