STARI & MALI GRAD

In Kamnik there are the remains of two castles which are precious witnesses of the remarkable past of the small town. Mali Grad (or the small castle) is situated on the heights of a hill in the immediate vicinity of the city centre. Built in the 12th century, it still houses an old Romanesque chapel in a very good state of preservation. The place is appreciable for its views of the city. Stari Grad (or the old castle) is a 30 minute walk to the west of the town. Fallen in ruins, its promontory recalls the rich medieval history of the city.
