Although its exterior appearance is rather plain, the church of Saint-Pierre de Biollet is unique and remains an enigma for anyone interested in the symbolism of Romanesque places of worship. Built in the 11th century on a basilica plan, the church is home to richly detailed capitals, whose components offer us different scales of reading and are sometimes reminiscent of Egyptian mythology. The church is not oriented.
