Bordering China, this national park includes high peaks with glaciers and eternal snow, including the highest point of the Altai range, Khuiten Uul Peak, and the Altai Tavan Bogd Mountain (4,374 meters above sea level). The park also includes three beautiful high altitude lakes: Khoton Nuur, Khurgan Nuur and Dayan Nuur. The place is ideal for hiking. It is also possible to go rafting on the Dayan River, but it must be organized from Ulaanbaatar. The lakes offer very good sites for fishing, which is not allowed in summer in order to respect the reproduction periods. Next to Dayan Lake is the historical site of Khu-Yui, whose man-stones are protected since 1998. The park and especially its snowy areas are the natural habitat of the snow leopard. Wild goats (argali), ibex, red deer, as well as weasels and elks can also be seen in the area.
