Located 70 km west of Dalanzadgad, Yolyn Am Gorge has been protected since 1965, long before the national park was established. Today it is a strictly protected area within the park. Located at an altitude of 2,500 meters, it is famous for the glacier that forms around its stream and is supposed to resist all year round. In practice, visitors in July and August have little chance of seeing any ice.Exploring the gorge is a very pleasant walk, punctuated byövöo and overlooked by the Three Beauties, the peaks of the Zuun Saykhan mountains, which gave their name to the park (the highest is at 2,825 meters above sea level). As for the name of Yolyn Am, it comes from the numerous vultures that can be seen in the mountain: yol, in Mongolian, means indeed this large-scale bird of prey.
