Twenty-seven kilometres away, in Gama, you can visit the Catetinho - short for Catete - the former presidential palace in Rio and the wooden house that Kubitschek occupied when Brasília was first built. When the new federal capital was built, the Brazilian state expropriated four fazendas of enormous size. The farm buildings were located next to the first residence of the president of the republic Juscelino Kubitschek, called Catetinho, which was later moved. On the site was built the planned satellite city divided into 5 sectors of Gama, intended to receive the workers and employees that the capital needed.
