CENTRO DE CULTURA POPULAR DOMINGOS VIEIRA FILHO

On the four floors of this old house, visitors can immerse themselves in the popular culture of Maranhão: costumes, musical instruments, decorative objects and much more are on display. The center maintains the permanent exhibition "Casa da Festa", with themes linked to Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Maranhenses cults(tambor de mina), Festa do Divino, indigenous culture, crafts, bumba meu boi, cacuriá (dance) and other rites and folklore, such as Carnival and Christmas.
