IGREJA MATRIZ NOSSA SENHORA DO ROSARIO

The construction of the church began at the end of the ^16th century. It has beautiful azulejos, a remarkable painted ceiling by José Joaquim da Rocha. On the second floor, the Museu das Alfaias presents the remains of the Convento de São Francisco de Paraguaçu, dating from the ^17th century. The church is rectangular in plan, with naves topped by tribunes. The frontispiece is of temple type, flanked by two towers with pyramidal ends, covered with tiles.
