IGREJA DO SANTÍSSIMO SACRAMENTO - IGREJA MATRIZ

Igreja do Santíssimo Sacramento, also known as Igreja Matriz, was built in 1782 with Father Manoel de Cerqueira Tôrres as its project manager. Recently renovated and inaugurated in 2012 in the presence of the Primate Archbishop of Brazil, Mgr Murilo Krieger, the trompe-l'oeil paintings on its ceiling by José Teófilo de Jesus, representing the Last Supper of Jesus Christ and some of his miracles, can be admired.
