A very important place in Salvador, paying homage to the country of origin of some Bahians and organizing various exhibitions
Benin, the former kingdom of Dahomey, was the country of birth or the place of departure of a huge number of sons of Africa torn from their native land. This "Casa do Benin" is a tribute to the country of origin of some Bahianese. Unlike the slaves of Rio and Recife, they came from the Gulf of Guinea. The exhibition of objects from Benin and photos by Pierre Verger taken in Salvador and Benin is located on the ground floor, and a temporary exhibition rotates regularly upstairs. A very important place in the cultural ensemble of the city.

Located at the bottom of the largo of the pelourinho, it offers upstairs temporary exhibitions and at the bottom of the objects Benin. Most interesting is in my opinion, very close to the entrance on the left, the photos of Pierre Verger which show scenes taken in Salvador and Benin that prove the bond cave undoubtedly the 2 civilisations.
