To enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the beach, you can choose between Boa Viagem, at the foot of the small historical church of the same name, and the beaches of Ribeira, on the northern side of the peninsula. A popular neighbourhood, Ribeira receives few foreign travellers, and you should only go there (on foot, or by any bus marked "Ribeira") if you want to take a Bahian bath, have a drink or test your command of Portuguese.

Including beach is better to Piata, Itapoan. In Ribeira, try the ice cream large glacier. An impressive selection of sorbets to the exotic fruits and balls good size. You queue to pay then, your ticket, you will be served. Cheaper than the Laporte glacier near the church Sao Francisco, less tourists less beggars. In the bay of Ribeira, you can see stationing schooners that transport tourists port Mercado Modelo or harbor before the MAM to the island of the Brothers then Itaparica for a day trip.
