Foundation presenting an exhibition by Pierre Fatumbi Verger, with photos and negatives of Bahian people and other images
Pierre "Fatumbi" Verger was a French photographer and ethnologist with a passion for Bahia, its culture and African cults - in particular Fon and Yoruba, and Candomblé. He died in Salvador in 1996, aged 93. More than 60,000 of his photos and negatives of Bahians taken in the 1930s and other snapshots are on display here. The exhibition changes every quarter, highlighting different angles of his work. His books are also available for purchase.

La vrai fondation P Verger est excentrée par rapport aux sites touristiques . Il faut leur téléphoner pour prendre RdV . Pour ceux qui connaisse Pierre Verger il est trés interessant de voir sa maison oú est installée la fondation. De plus il est possible de consulter les revues , livres editées sur lui.
Pour ce qui concerne la Galerie en face du Musée de la mIsercordia la Galerie est interessante avec des expositions tournantes des photos qui a pu prendre dans de nombreux pays mais surtout á Bahia oú il a jeter les amarres!!

Petit musée gratuit, une halte agréable pendant une visite dans le quartier du Pelourinho. Prenez le temps de feuilleter les ouvrages qui comportent de nombreuses photos de Salvador et de la région.
air place, free access. Do not hesitate to return because the exhibitions vary each year. You can buy works of Orchard. This man allowed Bahia to become aware of the value of their African roots and developed this culture that slaves had been passed on by masking (candomblé, capoeira.)
